Provincial Nominee Program
Canada has 10 provinces and 3 Territories. As of December 2020, there are more than 80 active Provincial nominee programs. Most of them are based on an annual cap depending on the yearly requirement of each province or territory. The provincial nominee programs are based on province’s own strategy and annual assessments giving an opportunity to address their specific economic development needs & to fulfill the shortage of different skilled professionals. The provinces keep their rights reserved to end, launch a new or modify current PNP programs at any time.
In a broader context, every program in a province has its own key factors which include assessment criteria, requirements, procedures, guidelines and some times list of occupations in demand. These factors keep on changing frequently and some times over night without a prior notice. Unlike Express entry programs, PNP’s are more complex and take longer time for processing. Some times PNP programs are designed to target specific work professionals. For example all the Business and entrepreneur programs are meant for those who hold an experience of running a business and also show intention to Canadian Government to continue same profession, once they are accepted as a PR in Canada.
As each PNP program is entirely different from other, which is definitely a tough nut to crack for an applicant, hence resulting in failure to find a relevant program suitable to his individualized needs and credentials. In simple words, one needs to be professionally qualified in Canadian Immigration Law and own adequate knowledge of each program, if he really wants to render successful results for a PR application. Making a small error or missing a simple guideline of PNP application, may result in a refusal and hence disappointment. Not all the rejections can be ‘appealed at IRB’ or requested to seek leave for a ‘judicial review at Federal Court’ of Canada, and if they are, they put huge load on your pocket and exhibit less success rate.
